Be swept back to nearly 3 weeks ago, to the start of the prelude to Gimo's and Wanyi's annual tragedy when me, Wanyi and Dom rendezvous at Orchard one mundane weekday.
Just plain old me.

Happy people that I'm happy to know.
The agenda in mind were to find a venue for the joint celebration as well as seek out presents for the 2 unfortunate victims.
Unfortunate is still too much of an understatement considering their suffering in retrospect! I am so sorry but I can't help myself but to snicker at the thought of their plight.
But I shall not spoil the fun by telling you now! Beg me more and I might consider. NOT! Wuhahahaha!
Dinner was the first order of the day and so dinner we had. Much was discussed but little was accomplished between those interludes when our individual dishes were served separately. However despite the lack of progress, we had a merry time chatting and pilfering from each others' plates.

The name suggests something along the lines of baked rice with tons of cheese! Yucks!

Looks good and taste ain't far off.
Seeing that perhaps we've met up abit too late, we prudently left after our mouth watering desert and head out over to Takashimaya to source out a suitable gift for Gimo.

The first soufflé that I ever laid my taste buds on. More please!
On and on we stalked from shelf to shelf, always looking around hoping to chance upon some trinket of interest, and at the same time racking our brains and scourging our memories for clues as to what Gimo might want. As luck have it, we didn't take too long to find the perfect gift for our sweet toothed buddy.

Walk walk.

Why don't they just rob us at knife point?

I need to ebay my kidney to buy it.

Yay! Something that's nearer to its percieved price.
We didn't forget about Wanyi okay!
Of course we neither discussed nor later shopped for what we're to buy for Wanyi with her. We're dumb but not that dumb. But nonetheless we did kept an eye out for her gift as well
Feeling that at least some burden have been lifted from us organizers' shoulders, we called it a day and went around shopping for our own shite since it was the Great Singapore Sale.

Shoppers unite!

Lian leh!

Take that chopstick outta your hair!
Yes us men actually need to shop! Wipe that surprised look for your face. You're starting to embarrass me with your stone age thinking!
Anyway disappointment was hardly felt as we left the thorough shopped departmental store even though all 3 of us left with hands as empty as when we entered. It's not like we didn't know Taka has little to sate our shopping needs in the first place.
To Wanyi, its almost always too early to head home from town and so me and Dom went along and stayed on, wandering the thinning streets of Orchard. Perhaps age was catching up with us, for we soon felt fatigue seeping in after just a couple hours of shopping and eventually headed to a nearby Coffeebean to chill. Gimo who just happened to be in the vicinity joined us a long while later for a drink and some company.

My Mocha Frappuccino and her ice blended something. LOL!

Leecher! Hahaha =p

Talk about smug look.

We should never pass the chance to take an artsy shot now should we?
And so that night ended with all 4 of us debating on the bus 143 all the way home.
A thought though. Wanyi lives in Bukit Panjang so you can see the reason for my bewilderment towards why she took a bus that goes nowhere near her home. Maybe she did explain to me but I'm not surprised if I forgot it altogether.
Okay so let me fast forward a couple of days after that, during which constructive planning and late night scouting took place, to the actual day of celebration.
Did I mention that the celebration was to be held in the form of a late night BBQ at West Coast? Well if its anyone's fault, its yours since you didn't ask!
Alright, alright. I know a face contorted by curiosity when I see one. Lets just leave it at that certain individuals faced differing time constraints that ultimately shaped our choice.
You know who you are and I BLAME YOU! I'm kidding of course. What's there to really whine about since West Coast is soooo near my house. Next thing you know, one of the criteria I'll look for in a girlfriend is her home's proximity to mine! Wuhahahaha!
Okay let me stop the digressing and get on with it.
So it went that me, Dom, Carol and Wei Jian took it upon ourselves to host the celebration and as of result met up at IMM hours before the start of it all. Charcoal, utensils, various bottles of drinks, an assortment of mainstream BBQ food and the ever quintessential cake were purchased and loaded onto Dom's car.

Where did the portable BBQ pit went to anyway since we never had the chance to use it?

Push slave, push!

The response I got when I asked him to pose for a picture.

Eh not free one hor!

Sai kan crew of the day!
Oh and we bought beer. Lots of it. Never start a party without sufficient alcohol. Such crime against humanity would not be tolerated. LOL!
20 minutes of driving later and we arrived in the under lit car park at West Coast and proceeded to finally bring to fruit our many hours of planning, discussion and procurement at staging area of a BBQ pit.

The best choice we made in the light of practicality.
Each of us went about our own task from washing the squid, marinating the prawns to starting fire. All was accomplish in slightly over half an hour and all that was left was the wait for the other guest to arrive.

Chefs at work!

But there's always time for a picture!

Wow we've got a good fire going.

And who did it? HAHAHAHAHA!
With that marks the end of the prelude and the begining of some seriously wicked fun!
FUNKED IT ALL UP ON 1:51:00 AM
